Balfron War Memorial

My walk this afternoon took me round the village and past the War Memorial, which sits just in front of Balfron Parish Church.

On the left of the blip is a tree called the Clachan Oak*, thought to date back to 1533. According to local legend, Rob Roy MacGregor once hid in its branches while on the run from the Duke of Montrose in 1711.

* also known as The Hanging Tree for obvious reasons!  *gulp*

A better day weather-wise, but still chilly.

PS  My bestie, Gill, with whom I'm in an extended household, is coming to stay tomorrow for a few days, so my bliptime will be limited.
