They All Fall Down

Missed the demolition of the first of these tower blocks back in June 2010 so was determined to be there for the final one - Ramsay Court - to come down. Even if it did mean a brush with hypothermia.

Arrived before 10am, in a blizzard, and couldn't even see across to the flats at a few points. Then the sun came out. Then another whiteout blew past. The klaxon eventually sounded a little after 11:30 and the grey concrete collapsed in a dusty heap in a matter of seconds.

I'd scouted out this angle before today's demolition as I knew the old church would be the tallest thing left standing in the Kincardine skyline. It did look a bit smug after all the noise and dust had subsided.

Nineteenth century Gothic - one, Nineteen-Sixties Brutalist - nil.
