Fairy tale bridge

Telford's Bridge over the Spey at Craigellachie rising like a fairy tale castle above the fresh green growth of the surrounding trees.

The Bridge was constructed in 1812 - 1814 and was especially designed to withstand conditions by a deep, fast flowing river. The ironwork was cast in Wales and brought from Garmouth by horse drawn wagon. The bridge was closed to traffic in 1972.
