A New Way of Seeing

This afternoon I took a walk down to the heronry. I went down the Interurban Trail and as I walked I noticed something about what I was seeing. It was the same rich afternoon backlit beauty as before. But I was seeing it differently. I was seeing it in terms of mark making. This group of branches reminded me of some of the marks I’m learning to make. That tree trunk was like some other marks. And so it went. It was quite new and exciting to see the woods in that way. I did this little sketch from the photo in the extras. I’m excited to do more experimenting work mark making.
