Rottnest Island

We caught the 7:30 am Express Ferry to Rottnest this morning for our one night stay.
The easterly was blowing quite strongly and felt like the first day of winter so the first thing we both bought were beanies.
This is Ranger Kaija who we met while riding our bikes to the western end of the island to catch a peak of the World Pro surfers practicing for the Rottnest Pro surfing comp.
She gave us a lift down a track to the beach just before the officials were going to close the access to the public.
Her job today was to install a camera to help protect two nesting ospreys.
The nest was a huge construction of sticks and we were thrilled to witness the sight of two beautiful birds.
Stay tuned for WW’s great shots tomorrow.
The extras are the surfers boards being delegated to their apartments.
Kiaja was not too pleased about this event as she is concerned that it will have a huge noise impact on the nesting ospreys very close to the
Surfing event.
