Butterflies?

On a bank in the William yard these small deep purple shoots are appearing. I have no idea what they are and look forward to seeing how they develop!

Extra: I do know this Is a beautiful wisteria in one of the gardens in the William yard and Sian and molly are gracing the picture too!
