Roof with a view. Er, usually.

The day didn't quite go to plan. The plan was to go to Edinburgh with the lads for the Science Festival. Matthew's already been with his pal's family, but Andrew was looking forward to going and Matthew was keen to be our guide. So I should have booked online, instead of just rocking up late morning in my usual optimistic manner.

The weather was horrible today, "dreich" is the best word for it: misty, cold and damp. So naturally everyone had taken their kids to the best show in town, the Science Festival. I polished up my brass neck to ask if we could have Ed & Oucho's autographs anyway. (This had been the most coveted item in Matthew's haul from last week).

They'd run out of the publicity cards for the CBBC heroes, but we managed to scrounge a plastic Oucho thingy from the very lovely lady who turned us away. Not sure what the thingy actually is, like a mobile phone "charm" (another thing which I don't understand - why does anyone need to dangle bits of tat from their phones?) Andrew intends to put this on his school bag, as he loves to dangle bits of, er, interesting things from his school bag.

So we went to the National Museum of Scotland, where the big guys got stuck in to all the interactive stuff and George got bored fairly quickly. I thought it would be a great idea to take them up to the roof garden. It was cold and wet, and someone had stolen the views. I made them stand for a picture, which they did with fortitude. For about three seconds.
