princess

Today I visited a church which has some of the finest Gothic architecture in Scotland as well as the tomb (seen here) of Princess Margaret, daughter of King Robert III of Scotland and Lady of Galloway, who died in 1450 at the age of 81. Lincluden Collegiate Church lies in a bend of the River Nith, with housing estates on one side and fields on the other. It's rather a sad, forgotten place, ruined, scruffy and covered in graffiti, but was once an important site. The river is very peaceful here, it's where the Cluden flows into the Nith and it's rich in birdlife. I was excited to hear an see a sedge warbler in some reeds only a few yards away from houses.
