Flora

This is Flora, a minor Roman deity, and goddess of spring, fertility, flower, fruit, and protector of early blossoms. The statue was given to Leonard and Dorothy Elmhirst, the owners and founders of the Dartington Estate, by the Dartington Community to commemorate Founders Day 1967. It can be found in the Dartington Hall Gardens which we walked through today. Fresh flowers can usually be seen in Flora’s free hand. You’ve guessed it. Nobody knows who puts them there.
