My favourite beetle

Carabus problematicus.

It's visually remarkably similar to Carabus violaceus, but with a bit of knowledge that ceases to be a problem.
It has a far more dimpled and ridged appearance, is marginally larger and has a convex head when seen in profile. Key though, it prefers open heath, often sheep grazed and upland areas.

It's also very very beautiful.
