'At the going down of the sun' - ANZAC memorial

I was taken by this war memorial in Bermagui, on a headland, caught just after sunset. I tried just before sunset, but a shadow was cast on the 'ARMY' seat and I thought that since the locals represented all the defence services, so should my blip.

The memorial pine is dead. It's an Aleppo pine (pinus brutia), grown from the original lone pine at Gallipoli in the jubilee year of 1965. There are many such pines at ANZAC memorials in Australia, and I hope the people of Bermagui can get another one from the original, when the time comes. I think it still looks beautiful.

Thanks for hosting Marlieske. Stay well all.
