Day 136/21. The brand new P&O cruise ship Iona

Iona is a new cruise ship set to operate for P&O Cruises, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation. She arrived into Southampton today and will be offically named tonight. Built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, she was delivered in October 2020, becoming the line's new flagship. At 184,089 Gross Tonnage, the ship is the largest to ever operate for P&O Cruises,and to operate specifically for the British market. She can accomodate a total of 5,206 passengers on her 17 decks.
After Covid, she will not be the first to restart cruises from the UK. That role will be taken by the MSC Virtuosa (see extra picture). She leaves Southampton on the first post covid cruise around Britain on Thursday.
