Aku 19

We celebrated my nephew Aku's 19th birthday in the afternoon.

Today is the third Sunday of May, which is Commemoration Day of Fallen Soldier for the soldiers killed in the nation’s wars: the Finnish Civil War 1918, the Winter War, the Continuation War and the Lapland War. 

The War Sampo portal has harmonised and published large heterogeneous data about the WW2 in Finland as Linked Open Data. The portal provides different perspectives to war history, for both historians and the public. The WarSampo combines the information, photographs, press articles, wartime diaries, historical maps, and other material related to the fallen heroes. The system aims at promoting peace: one way to promote peace is to make reliable data about the war openly available for everybody to learn.
