The lull before the storm

This photo was taken minutes before Mitsuko Uchida took the stage at the Royal Festival Hall whereupon she gave one of the greatest piano performances I have ever witnessed.

It was the first time I had seen her play live.
And she fully deserves all the accolades she gets.

The power and control and intensity of her performance was remarkable. And her infectious spirit also irresistible.
