A morning of mixed emotions.  Exhilaration at being back at my gym (for people with dicky tickers and dodgy lungs) for the first time in over a year.  And the sad news that some of our members - and friends - will not be returning.

We usually do two type of activity each session - 45 minutes aerobic exercises and then about 45 minutes on machines (rowing machines, elliptical trainers etc).  But today we eased ourselves back in “gently” with some warm-up exercises.

Government guidelines mean that we have to work within 3 metre squares which effectively rules out the machines.  And perhaps more importantly, many of us have have been shielding for the past year and so are having to learn to do this sort of thing all over again.  And although - unlike some - I can get out on my bike, I found this morning’s workout far harder than that.  To make matters worse - no tea and biscuits afterwards.

Even so - it’s good to be back.  I’ve really missed it.  The staff, as always, are wonderful.  The 3 metre rule may be relaxed in the Summer which means we can get back on the machines - and more importantly - get the kitchen open.
