The inspiration for Anna Pavlova?

We visited the Swannery at Abbotsbury today. There were so many swans and cygnets...very different from my usual views of swans in the Royal Parks. The most we saw was nine cygnets with their mother. In this photo there are seven...note one is on its mother’s back!
This swannery started when the monastery nearby needed lots of swans to eat! It was already a swannery which welcomed visitors in the 1920’s and I was interested to read that when Anna Pavlova was preparing for her production of Swan Lake she and other dancers vi sited the Swannery to observe the birds. Pavlova tragically died in 1931, at just 49. Soon after the WW2 a group of dancers performed at the Swannery in memory of Pavlova,
