On the beach again

My late afternoon walk on Seven Mile Beach today produced a bird I've seldom seen before - the Beach Stone-curlew or Beach Thick-knee. It was happy for me to get within 7 or 8 metres but kept moving away to keep that distance. The Atlas of Living Australia has details, including that in our part of Australia it is classified as critically endangered. I guess that explains why I've rarely seen it.
