Mayflower

Another Thursday walk, another beautiful ancient wood. This time it's tiny Ravely Wood tucked away just outside a very picturesque village near Ramsey. All this woodland exploring has really got me back into discovering wildflowers, I once knew lots of names but have forgotten most (along with a million other things!). I'm re-learning though in the hope of recharging my brain cells.

I hadn't forgotten the marvellous hawthorn, it's almost always out for my birthday two weeks ago but not this year, like everything else the mayflowers are running late. But just look at those flowers: the pink stamens on white, bright spring green leaves, the scent, the cascade of them - magnificent!
