Burnt tip Orchids

Our village is known for its orchid sites but usually only 3 or 4 spikes grow together so I was delighted to see this group, standing tall and strong after so much rain (Switzerland is currently having the wettest May on record). 
These are quite rare in Switzerland but even more rare in Britain apparently where the species has suffered one of the severest declines of all wild orchids during the last 50 years, and suffering an 80% decline in distribution, it may be the most rapidly decreasing plant in Britain. 

Extra is an over ambitious Grebe, building a mansion! Have a great weekend everyone.
