Cockington

It was forecast to be another wet and windy day, and so it turned out.  Although this evening things seem to have calmed down a bit.

We picked up Colin in Dawlish this morning and drove out to the village of Cockington just outside Torquay.  Cockington is a pretty village, favoured by tourists, with some lovely walks nearby and through the Cockington Court gardens.  Unfortunately the rain put a bit of a damper on any walking and we had to retreat back to the car.  The cafe we were hoping to eat at was closed so we left and headed to Shaldon.

We couldn't get a lunch table at The Clipper but the Ferry Inn a little way down the road had a covered outdoor eating area by the beach.  We settled there and had a coffee followed by veggie burgers all round, cooked at the outside grill shack.  Very nice.

The gardens at Cockington Court were colourful with clematis and rhododendrons, but also a plentiful supply of wild garlic, pictured here for Flower Friday hosted by BikerBear and WildFlower Week hosted by Miranda1008.
