Forth Rail Bridge from South Queensferry Harbour

We met Mister F's family for a fabulous lunch at Orocco Pier in South Queensferry.   We took the 43 bus out from town sitting upstairs at the front!  It was a bit cool today so luckily we were inside the restaurant which has a great view of the Forth Rail Bridge.  It was designed by Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker and completed in 1890.

"Painting the Forth Bridge" is a colloquial expression for a never-ending task coined on the erroneous belief that repainting was required and started immediately upon completion of the previous paint job!  In actual fact this practice never existed and in 2011 the bridge was covered in a new coating to last 25 years!
