Electric (Happy 80th Bob Dylan)

Many of us came alive when we heard
the sound of an electric guitar for
the first time. There were boos when Dylan dared
to put his acoustic down - a loud roar

of disapproval greeted him when he
plugged in at the Newport Folk festival.
The diehard folkies were far from happy.
He got the same response in Newcastle

and Sheffield when he toured here. Some thought
he’d sold out but he’s never been one to
follow trends or fashion. (He’s more the sort
to lead the way before moving on to

something new). Now, though, fans are eclectic
and accept acoustic and electric.
