Swords to ploughshares / Schwerter zu Pflugscharen

A fitting adornment to the brick facade of Greifswald’s iconic St Nikolai cathedral.

An important message at any time, now as much as ever. It also taught me two new German words (and actually one in English - I didn’t realise a ploughshare is specifically the blade, the main cutting part of a plough).

“They shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more”

(Isaiah 2:3-4).
