Carol's ramblings

Wet, wet, wet

Sorry another collage of the days events :)

Throughout the day - constantly RAINING!

Drove early this morning to the “park and ride”. Just missed a bus, but they arrive about every 15 mins, so didn’t have to wait too long. There are plenty of car parks directly in the city of Lincoln, but thought we would experience the bus. Originally £2.60 each way (is only 1 or 2 stops): but advised to purchase a duo ticket for £3.90 each way for both (as long as we travelled together) :)

1st stop, cathedral, but didn't open until 10am.. admired the Tennyson statue with the poem:

“Flower in the crannies wall,
I pluck you out of the crannies,
I hold you here, root and all, in my hand.
Little flower - but if I could understand
That you are, root and all, and all in all,
Should know what God and man is”.

Onto the castle, viewed the Magna Carta in the vault, Edwardian and Victorian prisons before joining the tour guide at 11am. He was very interesting, we sheltered under trees during his tour. After walking around the castle wall walk we left the castle and went on to the cathedral (mainly to get out of the rain). Lovely glass windows and a facsimile of the Magna Carta! Leaving the cathedral, travelled down “Steep Hill” (glad we didn’t go up!) to stop for lunch (sandwich and coffee). A bit of window shopping before finding the bus station for the trip back to the park and ride. (5 hours for parking and bus trip for £3.90 was a bargain!). :)

Back to the hotel to relax and warm - hubby had a siesta whilst I watched Traces (downloaded) doing my crochet :)

Another “day out” tomorrow! :)
