Vacation #day9#. URK

Today we went to Urk with our holiday friends. Urk was an island in the former Zuiderzee until 1929. In that year the connection with the mainland of the Netherlands was made. Years later, the Zuiderzee was cut off from the North Sea by the Afsluitdijk. From that date on, the Zuiderzee was also called Ijselmeer. Large areas have also been drained. That is called the Flevopolder with, for example, the town of Almere.
The photo shows the ski line of Urk.
