Morven Park

Very cool and wet today. The cicadas must've been astonished at this abrupt just-before-June change in temperature; their drone was utterly silenced. I can't remember ever wearing a jacket for warmth over Memorial Day weekend.

W. and I walked through part of Morven Park's thousand acres - down an avenue of willow oaks, past the front columns and lions, and in a big circle around fields and pastures. The only other beings we saw, apart from three peaceful horses and a groundhog, were five young women wearing long full skirts, maybe there for photographs. The extra shows a Southern Magnolia blossom. Wish it could be scratch & sniff!

Raspberry cornmeal muffins with dinner tonight...unusual but tasty.

Niece Josie turns 18 today.
