Stop for a minute please.

The St Rule Trophy competition was being played today on the Old Course; one of a few Sunday’s a year it’s fairways are closed to walkers. We decided to walk a bit of the “right of way” path in front of the Old Course Hotel and adjacent The Road Hole, walking in the opposite direction to play; ie towards the tee. We wanted to see a bit the action as some of previous players now feature in the European Ladies Tour. At this location the Road Hole tee shot plays blind over “the old railway sheds,” (long since part the Hotel); the player on the tee can’t see this part of the path - hence the Marshall, his red flag and St Andrews Links golf buggy. The sea haar was in on the Course, so it a grey chilly walk - to think we’d sat outside in the sunshine with a visitor only a short distance away. We didn’t walk too far this afternoon - we decided to return to the sunshine and a book outside!

Younger son played golf in a Competition (in better weather!), older son caught up with friends not seen for so long.
