Lurking in the compost bin . . .

I thought these large beasties were Leopard Slugs, but they have been identified as Yellow and Green Cellar slugs, Limacus flavus and L. maculatus. They are good guys as they only eat dead matter, not live plants, which is a relief!

We have three compost bins and I was planting a courgette plant in the oldest one. It is more sheltered in there than in the garden, and it gets a good feed at the same time.

There is now one courgette in the garden and two smaller ones still in the greenhouse, so we'll see which one is the most productive!

Another six pots of rhubarb and ginger jam today! 'Tis the time of the year for it!
