Why did I come in here?

Holidays

My boys have abducted the Garden Fairy for the week. She has taken them the short distance to Perran Sands where they will be incarcerated in a mobile home type thing. They love going with Grandma, she orders meals delivered to their door and has already arranged restaurant seating and their swimming periods, archery, shooting and if I heard correctly they may also do some sleeping. As you can see their rugby and footballs have been pumped up and they also took happy delivery of a pair of hurling sticks all the way from Antrim, N. Ireland, Grandpa isn’t such a meanie.
Meanwhile Grouch is left to catch up on the MotoGP, rugby and the amazing efforts of the Air Ambulance and Coastguard crews. A word of warning, if you are offered a VW Touareg with limited mileage that has never been off-road be careful. Two days ago somebody left one on Trevaunance Cove’s tiny slipway, the tide did the rest. It was dragged from the surf by a local company. I should point out that the dipstick driver had parked where the RNLI “Rubber Ducky” or inshore lifeboat is launched, that’s why it’s called a slipway. No sympathy.
A few years ago I was chatting with a doctor at the hospital, the air ambulance landed and a crash crew ran out with all the kit. The onboard medic was sitting on the chest of a naked rather obese chap, about my age, pumping furiously to keep oxygen in his system. The crash crew took one look, shook their heads and folded up their bags. The aircraft shut down and the crew got in a huddle, had a chat then wound it up again for their next job. The doctor was surprised when I explained how deeply the crews feel the loss of a patient. It’s one of the most satisfying feelings to help save a life, when the effort is for nought your mental anguish is palpable. Stay safe out there folks, it’s a dangerous time on the water and on the roads.
The eldest boy suffers horribly with hay-fever. Any suggestions for reducing the effects would be appreciated.
