Another visit to the southend

After yesterday's busy time meeting with various people at Woodland Park Road to start getting the place right, it has been good to have a quiet day doing little in the morning, a couple of hours gardening in the afternoon, followed by a pleasant run punctuated by photos of kotare, white-faced heron, and tuturiwhatu.

This little dotterel seemed not to mind my presence as it searched for morsels amongst the empty shells. It was quite noisy  with gulls scolding each other, and every other moving thing, interrupted by the shrill panic calls of the poaka. The oystercatchers were not bothered particularly today, whereas usually, they vie with the poaka for noise.
