Wentworth Woodhouse

After a lazy morning we headed over to Rotherham to Wentworth Woodhouse. A Grade I listed country house.

The building has more than 300 rooms, although the precise number is unclear. It covers an area of more than 2.5 acres, and is surrounded by a 180-acre park, and an estate of 15,000 acres.
 
I last visited the building back during the Easter holidays 1980 for a weekend school event  by the Institute of Environmental Health. Although it was over 40 years ago, I remember the weekend well.  At the time the building  was home to the Lady Mabel College of Physical Education, which trained female PE teachers.
