A Summer's Afternoon in Orkney

This workboat steamed past Creel HQ this afternoon.  Some of the crew were playing deck quoits whilst others gently swung in their hammocks, applying suntan oil, planned what they would do in their port of call or listened to on-demand Desert Island Discs.  There was some disharmony amongst the crew, but they all agreed that their luxury item would be better weather.  And for it to be forecast correctly.  As it sailed over the horizon (invisible) I could hear the strains of Gary Brooker singing ‘A Salty Dog’.

In a mad move yesterday I put my shorts on; a first since Sunday School in 1957.  It invoked another bank of haar the size of Spitsbergen.  In a further nautical manoeuvre, not mentioned on Lloyd’s List, a vessel docked in Kirkwall crammed to the gunwales with vitamin D tablets.

There was a stampede, but it was just outside San Antonio, so it doesn’t concern this Blip.

Sun Ra is buried in Elmwood Cemetery.

Michael Hurley always skippered the Blue Navigator.  It is not recorded what he was doing in the rigging.

Be careful if travelling through Forsinard.
