Method in my madness

As older electronic devices fell by the wayside.
Just 'in case', I kept the old chargers and more importantly, connecting leads.
And voilà, it really worked out. I had previously been able to access an old phone, because I had kept a charger with the right connection. Today a friend needed to connect a very old slide scanner and I had just the right lead with a very old and unusual socket.
