Llandogo

"Always the journey, never the destination."
Simon Rattle

Another unexpected detour on a last minute trip to Tintern; the road was closed from Chepstow so we were diverted through the beautiful countryside and eventually washed up at Whitestone car park, on the Wye Valley Walk. Several woodland trails with strategically placed benches overlooking the Wye Valley, and some lovely wood carvings arranged like totem poles around the play area near the car park. After her obligatory play on the swings K1 met someone from her days at RFDC to chat about old friends. We eventually made it to Tintern, about two hours later than planned, but probably better as it was quieter and we didn't have to queue for our coffee and cake at The Wild Hare. Rather than re-trace our steps for home we headed on towards Monmouth, but I didn't get very far before I had to do a U-turn to get a quick snap of St. Oudoceus church at Llandogo, looking radiant in the afternoon sunshine!
