Project 365 day 156: Poppy

My neighbour across the road has wonderful, huge poppies along the top of the bank above the road. In the evening, they are backlit by low sun and wonderfully translucent and vibrant. I stood in the road photographing them between the periodic flurries of traffic, trying to remain alert to approaching cars or buses. I've been dithering about which of the photos to post, a little uncertain about this high key one but liking the shadows and creases.

It's been quite a busy day but a reasonably positive one. I'm hugely relieved that J received a letter about her London appointment, but despondent that it isn't till August and that it's by telephone, which excludes her from the conversation as she is profoundly deaf as well as speaking very slowly with her communication aid. We will try to contact them and see if they can offer a video appointment instead, but hospitals make it so difficult to contact people; over the past nine months we have been repeatedly passed from pillar to post. However, at least we now have a name and a date, which is another step forward. She also had a positive afternoon at an online event with a charity supporting AAC users with which she has grown up. She gave a presentation which she has worked hard to prepare over the past fortnight, writing the text, programming her device to speak it, and creating Powerpoint slides. She enjoyed chat and activities with many old friends and a few new ones.
