Bronze stonemason

The figure is working on a piece of Lahn marble. The quarrying of this natural stone from Villmar, which is also in demand internationally, has been proven to date back to the 16th century.

Lahn marble has been used, for example, for the foyer of the New York Empire State Building, for the palace of the Maharajah of Tagore, for the St. Petersburg Hermitage and for the Kremlin in Moscow.

In Villmar there is also a Lahn marble museum, which we would like to visit soon. Maybe when we have visitors from the netherlands.
