Pop Art

I went to the Lichtenstein Retrospective at Tate Modern this afternoon. I really only knew his work through the War and Romance series but he was so much more! His monumental nudes, for instance, are extraordinary.

He also copied, parodied, satirised and/or appropriated the styles and works of other artists like Mondrian and Picasso. Some of these pieces were just brilliant. I particularly liked Femme d'Alger (1963) and Frolic (1977) which had more than just me chuckling!

For anyone interested in pop art or just Lichtenstein, I thoroughly recommend this exhibition.
