Mayfly

This afternoon I went for a walk along the canal from Lower Frankton.  It was very quiet despite the sunny weather, no canal boats and only one couple walking the towpath.

There were lots of birds singing but not showing and lots of insects that were more accommodating.

The main blip is a mayfly, there must have been a hatching as there werelots of them flying around.  Apparently there are 51 different types of them and I read that they've been around since before the dinosaurs.

The extra is a pair of mating common blue damselflies.
