The Continental Divide

Finally got to do some flying again with a trip up to Denver to see J and C. On arrival at Centennial Airport my friend Steve who is an experienced mountain pilot asked me if I would like him to be my guide on a trip from Denver to Aspen over the Continental Divide. This represents a challenge for a small plane with a ceiling of 13,500 feet but definitely doable if you have someone who knows the terrain. The updrafts and downdrafts going over Hegermann pass were definitely ‘exhilirating’ but the views were spectacular and it was quite something to see my altimeter peak at 14,100 at one point!
