Biddle and Shipton

We have been staying for a couple of nights in a friends apartment in a converted warehouse in Gloucester Docks. the docks were served by the Gloucester and Sharpness canal which connected with the River Severn. The heyday was around 1880 when this warehouse stored grain, it is a really nice conversion and there are many nice apartment blocks plus the dock area now has lots of canal and other pleasure boats. Their apartment is on the second floor of the Biddle Warehouse. Nearby there is also The National Waterways Museum in the Llanthony Warehouse which is interesting. There is also a big outlet shopping mall which also has lots of chain restaurants. We were surprised at how busy both were, however it is questionable how town councils allow these shopping developments as the old town near the cathedral is very run down, lots of empty shops and looking very sad.
