Anzuno, Ossola valley, Italy

This is taken in one of the tiny hamlets that we walked through today on our way to a restaurant for lunch. I loved the colours of the house and the flowers. The hamlets are linked with a footpath with beautiful views of the valley as you walk. The area is full of history linked to the partisans in the WW2 plus old water mills where chestnuts were milled to make flour. The gnocchi we ate was made of chestnut flour which we hadn’t tasted before. Delicious.

Lunch was another typical Italian meal combined with wine tasting in the cellar. We then took the train back to Switzerland and called in at a friend’s birthday party on the way home.
