Itchy & Scratchy

Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)

We have been out all evening and just returned. Here is one I took earlier today at the local park.

Have you ever tried to sit immoble trying to blend into the background when an annoying little itch starts just under your chin? You try to ignore it but it keeps on niggling at you until there is nothing else for it - you just have to give in and scratch it.

Ahhhh. What relief - pity about the fish supper though.

The heron was sitting patiently staring into the water until this sudden flurry of action.

I really just went to the park to see if the multi-ringed coot was still there (it was) and spotted this heron as a bonus.
