At last

When we bought Elm House all those years (22) ago. There was ivy climbing up the front wall which pulled some of the masonry away. Not to worry, we thought, we will just add it to the very long list of renovations. It never got done. Not even when we had gates and railings made for the front and fixed into place.

When we sold up a few years ago I thought the new owners might do it. They did a list of other “improvements” but overlooked that one.

Recently, it was sold again and the newest owners have obviously put it towards the top of the list and filled in the gaps. And they’ve put new windows in too. Which was probably a much bigger job. It’s nice to see the old place getting some love. Although, as it was built in 1785 it’s seen plenty of owners and we are all just passing through.

I grabbed a blip after dropping the car off at the garage. For part one of the tyre replacement operation.

Later, Joe and Ruby headed off to get some sun on Whitesands beach. In Joe’s case a bit too much sun.

Later still, Ruby made salmon burgers for tea. It’s the last time we will have a family dinner for a few weeks as Eve is heading back down to Surrey bright and early tomorrow.
