All part of the story

Sitting on the wall

We found a cafe open for breakfast in Yeovil, and were shocked by the number of shops in the centre which were closed, empty or boarded up. Most of them, in the bit we walked through. It is going to need a miracle to bring life back into these streets.

Coffee and gingerbread with S’s aunt D, who we haven’t seen since 2007. Too long. We sat in her garden and marvelled over her pots full of flowers and beds full of veg. I hope I’m as active at her age! S’s cousin E came over to say hello too, which was lovely.

Then a late lunch outside with J at Darts Farm near Exeter. Plenty of space in the cafe area where we are under a huge umbrella, but their farm shop was very busy. Felt quite claustrophobic.

Thence to Falmouth and as we progressed along the spine of Cornwall the cloud descended and the temperature fell. So lovely to see M but goodness she’s got a lot of packing to do.

S and I walked down to a new tapas place on the main street. Enjoying the front gardens and the scent of honeysuckle and wisteria when suddenly we found this lonely doll sitting on the wall.
