No queue - now that’s rare.

My wife was the only customer in Janettas this evening, well for a minute anyway! Sometimes people queue 30 minutes or more to buy scoops of their 50 plus flavours of ice cream, sorbets or frozen yoghurts (I think they make 100 or so, but not all at one time). It’s an award winning business - a gelateria and there’s the cafe too. I’d say they’ve traded well throughout most of the pandemic, with their orderly queue standing in anticipation along the pavement, only a few folks in the shop, and staff behind screens etc. It’s a popular visitor attraction, and well favoured by university students and locals. A 4th generation business of note and quality. https://jannettas.co.uk/

Earlier in the day we watched Scotland play their first game in the Euros. It’s many years since I watched a football game; my family all do, but not I usually. It had been hyped up, and many tuned in at work or school etc. Folks had high hopes, needing their spirits lifted a bit after the last 15 months - sadly today’s outcome didn’t provide too many smiles. Beaten 2-0 by Czechia, two tough (I’m told) games ahead.

Family FaceTime. A bit of fitba chat and recap of their busy weekend.

Looks like U.K. Government announcement on the end of legal restrictions on social contact in England (aka Covid19 Liberation Day etc), pronounced by Prime Minister on 21 FEBRUARY 2021 will not now go ahead…..Next review of Covid Restrictions and levels in Scotland is w/c 28 June - no such undertaking was given by the First Minister in February, despite significant criticism by opposition and media. The shorter term plans are contingent on success of suppressing the virus and understanding benefits of vaccinations etc.
