Stuck in the Groove

The EU asked Ireland and Britian to change over to the metric system in 1980. It  has been a slow process. While the roadsigns have been changed to Kilometres and weights and measures have changed, the common language of size and weight is still stuck with the imperial measures as it was called. We still ask for pint of Guinness or say someone is 6 foot tall. If someone said the height of that person is 183 cm, I would not have a clue what they were talking about. If they ask me my weight I give it in stones and pounds.
