Oliver the Oystercatcher Chick

Oleander and Olivia oystercatcher had the parenting sussed or so they thought; each was in charge of a single chick. Mum had tiny down on the lake edge whilst dad supervised and helped feed young Oliver here.

What was amusing was dad's dishevelled appearance, wide eyed and harassed demeanour whilst the chick constantly pestered for attention and food. Dad would try and escape to be followed at a pace, then try to sit and have a snooze which worked a couple of times but Oliver like all kids would wander off. Waking up there was a tweeting panic of a, 'Where are you?' and 'Come back here!' call and I could see and hear mum saying, 'Now go back to your dad for goodness sake!' which he did.

No rest for the wicked ......

The little ringed plover chicks haven't hatched yet but am waiting ....
