The Old Lime Kilns

There are many examples of lime kilns still to be found along the south-west coast and beside rivers. This is one of my favourites and is located close to the River Yealm in South Devon. In times past, the lime was used in the building industry and to improve the land. I always find this one interesting because of the way the trees and undergrowth have grown up around it. It looks a bit like part of an ancient fortress when you approach it through the woods and it is interesting to see how the way the light falls on it changes throughout the day.
Thought I would give this one a go for the Derelict Sunday Challenge.hosted by Marlieske.
