Modern Grandifloras

Torrential rain overnight and further rain throughout the day has played havoc with the sweet peas so I've cut various bunches for the house. This year I'm mainly growing Modern Grandiflora varieties. These combine the fantastic scent of the Old Fashioned types with the larger flowers and longer stems of the Spencer varieties that most people grow. The five varieties in this vase are 'Emily' (rose pink on white ground) which I chose for my daughter (also Emily Rose), 'Almost Black' (which lives up to its name) , 'Jack Ellis' (maroon/purple bicolour), the strangely named 'CCC' (white) and 'Adorabel' (lavender/turning mauve).
