Tobacco past

Waaay back, when I was 18ish (oh my, that was a long time ago!) I did a couple of seasons picking tobacco. Back then many of the farms in the Motueka Valley were tobacco farms. This is the one I picked on for two seasons.

Some years later the government paid farmers bonuses to diversify and it wasn't that many years later that growing tobacco was completely banned in New Zealand.

This farm diversified into growing kiwi Fruitl and blackcurrants, and I see they now have some hops too.

To the far left is the farm house up at the road. Down on the flat in the center are some sheds and the wee 2 room cottage I lived in. Much fun was had in that cottage!
